The Mount Hermon Association has provided the Mount Hermon Community a letter that we are passing on to you. It explains some of the the economic factors affecting them and the adjustments they are making in response.
Impact of Economic Challenges on Mount Hermon Association
As you are probably aware, with the current economic uncertainty and a recession of unknown severity looming, there is increasing pressure on the financial stability of Christian camps throughout the nation. Mount Hermon Association is not immune to these financial challenges. We are therefore in the process of taking decisive actions to ensure the continued strength of our ministry in the days ahead. Given a significant decrease in projected attendance and revenues over the next year — and possibly for several years to come — we recently initiated a series of timely and very difficult expense reductions. With the ultimate goal of insuring good stewardship of Mount Hermon’s ongoing ministry, we have determined that a reduction of our labor force, both full time and selected part time staff is necessary.
Effective January 1, 10 full time staff positions are being eliminated in the following areas: program (2), custodial (2), facilities (2), accounting, advancement, printing and registration. At the same time, two new positions are being added to address the issue of declining revenues and donations through expanded efforts in marketing and advancement. In addition, several part time staff positions are being eliminated and some positions will see a reduction in hours.
We are fully confident in the sovereignty of God and rest in the conviction and hope that He will continue to lead this vital ministry in the future as He has in the past 103 years. We are also privileged to be surrounded and supported by our extended Mount Hermon community, and are especially grateful in times like this for your prayers and countless hours of volunteer efforts on our behalf. Thank you!
