MHC August Update – 2023

Summer Greetings!

Hope you are doing well. This summer is flying by and our Fun Day is right around the corner. Also, there are a few things we want to bring to your attention. We want all residents to get this information, so if you have renters in your Mount Hermon home, make sure you pass along this email.

Fun Day

On Saturday, August 13th, we are having a Fun Day for the whole Mount Hermon community at Redwood Camp! It will be from 12:00pm to 5:00pm. You can bring your own lunch and picnic on the field or tables (no food is provided). Redwood Pavillion is available for basketball, ball games, board games, etc. There will be lawn games on the meadow and you can access the creek/beach, the playground, and swimming pool. The pool will be open from 1:00pm to 5:00pm. Tell your neighbors and let’s meet up for a fun-filled afternoon! Mount Hermon Association is graciously paying for our lifeguards, so all the activities for the day are free!

We will be holding an optional 50/50 Raffle to raise funds for our Mount Hermon Community group. Raffle tickets are $1.00 each and you can get as many as you like. This means someone will win half of the “pot” and MHC will get the other half. We will be selling raffle tickets from 12:00pm to 4:00pm, and select the winner at 4:00pm.

Donate to Mount Hermon Community

Mount Hermon Community has yearly expenses to maintain communication.  Google is no longer allowing community organizations like ours a free account, which we have enjoyed since we started our website over 15 years ago. The MHC Officers and Area Reps volunteer their time. But, our yearly expenses for our website, emails, Post Office box, flier duplication and such come to about $360. We have not had a fundraiser for a few years because of the pandemic, but we are brainstorming creative ways to help us reach our budget. Would you consider donating any amount? Use this link below:

MHC Fall General Meeting

We will be having our Fall General Meeting in person Tuesday, October 18, at 7:00pm, at Newton Memorial. The agenda will be available under News & Events one week before the meeting. We will be voting on Officers as outlined in our Bylaws. There will be cookies and beverages. It will be a great time to reconnect and see your neighbors.

Map Your Neighborhood & Fire Safety

Our efforts with Map Your Neighborhood (MYN) with C.E.R.T have been postponed this summer. Laurie Shipley will be getting in touch with those volunteering to help. If you would like to help, you can contact Laurie at [email protected]. She has added a helpful article to our website. We have also added two new articles on Fire Safety to our website for you to check out. Fortunately, we have an amazing response system for fires in our county as was seen just a week ago with our most recent fire near Mount Hermon. But, take a look at these articles to have your home ready for an emergency.
